Dentures

Dentures offer a comparative low cost alternative to bridges or implants for missing teeth.

Dentures are prosthetic teeth which can replace a single tooth, a row of teeth or all teeth. They have fallen out of favor in Australian dentistry because they are generally not viewed as a great long term, practical solution which meets lifestyle needs.

An initial consultation and examination of the existing teeth is required to ensure the teeth, gums and tissue are capable of supporting dentures. Dentures place extra burden on the surrounding teeth so each candidate needs to be examined for suitability.

While costing far less than implants, some people experience physical discomfort, difficulty chewing and a diminished sense of taste.
